Insufficient level of an antiepileptic drug (AED) is a common finding in patients admitted to a tertiary care center for status epilepticus (SE), according to new study findings.
Researchers at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, USA, retrospectively evaluated the clinical characteristics of 77 patients admitted to their institution for SE between November 2018 and November 2019.
Patients were classified according to the international League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) seizure criteria. Serum level of AED before initiation of treatment for SE was reviewed in 33 patients with available data.
